Overview
Developing software, attending scrum calls, working remote as well as in-office, demonstrating my work and receiving feedback, having peer programming sessions
Skills
Have learnt a lot of devops and server related skills, and how software dev is carried out in a professional setting. Additionally have improved by existing frontend and backend development skills.
Responsibilities
Since I was the only member of my team with experience in React, I led the development of the new microfrontends developed for our team's UI. Additionally, I occasionally supervised the tasks of other team members new to the frontend. I also performed important backend tasks under the supervision of our technical lead.
Support & Guidance
The HR graduate recruitment team was always able to respond immediately to any queries and my team members and manager were very open with each other, leading to a very supportive environment.
Culture
There's a strong business/corporate culture, and people are expected to dress in a formal manner. However, people are still relaxed and open with each other, and working hours and days in-office are flexible. There's also a strong emphasis on having a good work-life balance.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the placement very much, and believe there are few other companies where I would've had as good a time working. The days flew by and I'm hoping for a return offer.
Yes
Think about what exactly you want to do, but be willing to try out different teams, as there's a lot of intersection between work, and you may enjoying working somewhere you initially thought may not be as much fun.
