Overview
Assisting quality hub and bearings team solve ongoing quality/ warranty issues by applying engineering principles.
Skills
Developed my CAD and CAE skills to a degree that allows me to create complex simulations. Completed 'yellow belt - Problem Solving' training in my first month at the company. Improved my time management skills.
Responsibilities
Yes, I managed 2 projects with slight assistance of an engineer when needed. Took lead of larger projects when the engineer responsible was unavailable (Holiday/ other responsibilities) and developed my own CAE simulation study.
Support & Guidance
A lot, anytime I was confused/ struggling. I had 2 mentors who would help with every question that I had within 24hrs. If they could not help, then they would escalate to our manager and he would resolve the issue. Never had an issue that wasn't resolved within a week.
Culture
Very friendly, everyone in the team was very welcoming and accommodating. Felt like I could talk to anybody in the team and they would try their best to help whenever available.
Your Impressions
Thoroughly enjoyed the placement. Was given challenging tasks and never had a week that I felt I was not given enough work. There are regular team socials that encourage team bonding.
Yes
Ask for work. Complete your tasks as fast and best you can. If you are given boring work, if you complete it quickly, you will typically be given more responsibilities that usually are more exciting or you will be able to assist team members if you ask for more work and they are busy.
