Overview
Member of RTR hotel accounting team. Daily responsibilities include dealing with transactions in general ledger, taking care of long term contracts (accruing, prepaying), balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close, external audit.
Skills
Skills learnt/developed: time management, attention to detail, responsibility, organisation, communication and comprehension, working in a team as well as on my own, problem solving. Apart from the listed above, also dealing with accounting systems, mastered excel skills, saw a wider picture of how a global organization works from the inside.
Responsibilities
Yes, my team slowly introduced me to the processes but after several months I was trusted with the external audit, dealing with auditors queries and getting the information ready for them through the different towers in the company.
Support & Guidance
I had the support of my line manager as well as my 'buddy' who was there for me every step of the way. My team and everyone in the office was always willing to help.
Culture
Hilton is very inclusive. There are numerous of events happening every month to celebrate the culture and diversity in the team.
Your Impressions
It was definitely a well invested year of my life. The opportunities and experiences gained will always back me up in my future plans. Apart from professional experience I was also able to grow as a person and get a clearer picture of my way after graduation.
Yes
Always try and be the best version of yourself. Everything can be learnt and we are not expecting 'perfect' in Hilton. The passion is the main driver of success - show this to the recruiter! Also, very important tip I wish someone told me before starting - you can always do more than you think you can. Go in holding you head high and don't be afraid of the challenges - the more you face, the bigger you grow!
