Overview
The day-to-day tasks involve supporting the sales teams in Europe with pricing and discounting. Some other cyclical tasks are: - Visualising Data - Reporting - Process Improvement Projects - Updating FX Rates
Skills
I have become very proficient in MS Office tools like Excel, PowerPoint & Word due to very regular usage. Some new tools I learnt about during the placement are Salesforce, Power BI, Visio, SharePoint etc. I also had multiple opportunities to develop communication skills through projects I worked on. MS Office and Teams is something I use daily and hence can navigate around this quite easily now.
Responsibilities
As previously mentioned, I am independently supporting sales executives with their requests on a daily basis. Overall, the placement comes with a lot of responsibility but I never felt not supported or guided by my managers. I believe having constant communication with my line manager eased out the pressure, if any, that I might have faced during my cyclical tasks or even individual projects.
Support & Guidance
As a new placement, I received great support right from my on-boarding to my actual work. The company really lives up to its core values and all stakeholders that I have interacted with have been supportive and also quite understanding during difficult/busy times.
Culture
Although the environment can be fast-paced at times, there is general sense of understanding among the employees. The culture and general atmosphere is quite collaborative and supportive.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement experience thoroughly. I appreciate the learning opportunities I got, with which I feel very confident going back to university to start my final academic year.
Yes
To anyone new applying, I would suggest applying with an open mindset without the fear of being judged. The people here are very accepting of differences and embrace them beautifully. I would also recommend looking at the vast history of the company spanning over a 100 years, just so you can understand how the company has evolved over the years.
