Overview
I analyse deal offers on Excel so I can report on it to the client and help to advise on whether or not we think it should go ahead. I also update data on spreadsheets, follow up on the progress of deals with the other party and report back to the client. I am given the responsibility to contact tenants and landlords, with the guidance from my manager.
Skills
I have learnt new skills, such as how to carry out an analysis on Excel and to use the relevant software to measure plans. I have developed existing skills, such as working as part of a team, report writing and communicating with clients.
Responsibilities
Yes. I was given a few responsibilities when I started on the graduate scheme, with a lot of guidance when necessary. As time has gone on, I have been given more responsibility and have been given more independence with tasks I have been asked to carry out. I know that the support is still there if and when I need it.
Support & Guidance
I have received a lot of support throughout my placement so far. I know that I can ask my manager any questions I have at any point whilst also being able to ask other people in the company who are more senior than me.
Culture
The general atmosphere within the office is positive. People are usually very welcoming and are there to help when you need it. I think the company culture is also very positive and is consciously working towards trying to improve the industry further.
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement so far. The only thing I think would have improved my experience so far would be to have felt as though I am given more time and guidance from more senior members of the retail team. I think the support I have received from my line manager and other members of the team, as well as the social opportunities to network with other people are great.
Yes
I would encourage others applying to CBRE to be confident, have a skill set that is unique and slightly different to the usual tick box skills. I would also encourage people to take part in activities, whether it is work, volunteering or pleasure, that show your personal characteristics and highlight your morals that would be beneficial working for a company such as CBRE.
