The Role
I wouldn't change anything! My colleagues were fantastic to work with, the work was really interesting and I was given plenty of responsibility. Pay was good too!
I was always asked for my opinion and included in all of the relevent meetings.
The whole department were very supportive.
Sometimes too busy and then sometimes not busy enough! However on the non-busy days I was given the opportunity to visit other sections of the department to get an idea of what they did.
Everything that was done in the department, I was given the opportunity to try.
Not only do you develop your chemistry skills but you also get life skills and an understanding of what it is like to work in a big company.
The Company
Busy but always made time for tea and chocolate breaks! Very friendly, always felt that I could ask questions.
I was given the wrong start date by the recruitment agency so ended up starting a week late. There has also been some problems with payment. Both of these wern't GSK's fault though.
I was sent to 2 conferences throughout the year and was also given the opportunity to take a series of lectures on drug development. I was also given formal manufacturers training on the new mass spec instrument in the department.

With the job market being as poor as it is, no big pharma companies are offering jobs however if he job market gets better I think that the job opportunities would be much better.
The Culture
I lived at home so didnt really socialise much with the other students. I have heard that the socail side of things is really good if you live in the town with other students.
Rent and drink in the south east is high so it was to be expected. However the town that the site is based in is quite cheap.
Sorry, I dont really know!
The students organised a 5 aside football team and there were netball tournaments at lunch times however if your not sporty there isnt much on offer.
