Overview
My role was based in the Product testing laboratory at Barnard Castle. Sterile drug products, in process controls and raw materials are all tested to ensure their strict microbial specifications are met. The Microbiology practiced in the Steriles testing laboratory includes Endotoxin, Bioburden and Sterility testing using isolator technology. Besides product testing, responsibilities include batch release, supporting project work, writing and reviewing documents and interacting within Microbiology and teams across site.
Skills
Yes, excellent GxP skills learned including GLP/GMP. Analytical method development. Aseptic technique.
Responsibilities
Yes - once trained, I was testing products for release. Also given the lead on a few projects where I had responsibility and oversight for their completion.
Support & Guidance
Good support network; regular 1-2-1 check-ins with your line manager. Team always happy to support and develop you where they can.
Culture
Great - everyone was positive, even in challenging situations.
