Responsibilities
As you begin the internship you're handed basic responsibilities like reporting and clipping coverage, which isn't the most exciting work however it's fundamental to the smooth running of the team. As the year goes on, you are trusted with a lot more and will be given opportunities to have your own projects, such as coordinating mass mailers or running your own events.
Support & Guidance
My team were very supportive 24/7 however the culture of L'Oréal means it's important you show initiative and be independent. At the beginning natural support from the team will be a lot more, and as you get more comfortable into the role the natural support will gradually decline as they trust you more, but it will always be there if you need it and ask.
Culture
There are regular events going on so you had a chance to network/become friends with lots of people across the business. The intern culture is amazing, lots of opportunities to find friends. In terms of working, it can be stressful as there is a lot of pressure to perform well/manage a high workload, but the work is mostly rewarding and worthwile.
Your Impressions
I really loved my placement, its taught me so much about the PR/Comms industry and made me confident going into entry level roles post-uni due to the valuable experience I've gained. I've met so many new friends who have made the year so much better - I can imagine not having enjoyed my time as much if there weren't other interns within the company.
Yes
It's very much a personality based hire after you've ticked all the boxes for required skills. Be as personable as possible, in the interview they're trying to gauge whether you'd be a good fit for the team so be positive and emphasise how you're eager to learn as much as possible, whilst applying and enhancing the skills you already have.
