  • Working on the stories picked up during sprint planning and contribute to the respective repositories. After the work is code complete, tested and has been peer reviewed, it will eventually gets released to Production.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I was given quite a few responsibilities during my placement year. We work on stories which contribute towards team goals. We contribute to the code repositories owned by the teams and push these changes to Production environments. We also take on responsibilities like being the Scrum Master for the sprint. You get a lot of support during the time in the company!

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of support and guidance during my placement. Each placement student is assigned a mentor and a buddy when they join the company to help support us. The managers are also very helpful and look for opportunities to help develop both your technical and soft skills. There is a lot emphasis on supporting placement students develop skills which will help them in the future.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company has an amazing work culture and the general atmosphere is very positive. Personal development of individuals is very important to the company and they take a lot of measures to ensure everyone has the required support needed.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement a lot and it was a wonderful experience! I got the opportunity to work on new technologies and work with some amazing people. I was able to develop my technical and soft skills. I am glad that I decided to choose Capital One to do my placement year!

  • Try to develop your coding skills as this will help improve your analytical and logical skills and this will helpful when you join the company. Everyone is very social and you will definitely meet some amazing people in the company.
