Overview
Being a part of the Product Development team for Cruise my role revolves around ensuring our costumers have the best experience onboard our ships. This can involve the design of a venue, sign, menu or brochure or deciding which chair is comfier. This all depends on the projects you are given. On a day to day basis I worked on the Signage project which meant I managed/designed each sign for our new launched ship. This ranged from venue signage to disabled access signs.
Skills
Yes, I have had tonnes of opportunities to develop my existing skills and add new skills to the list. Time management has been the biggest takeaway with a strict working structure in place I have become a 'maximiser' by being productive as possible. My presenting and speech confidence has improved massively with the placement projects we explored through-out the year. From my role I developed my communication skills as I worked with many external international contractors on a day to day basis.
Responsibilities
I felt a huge responsibility within my role but with that came great respect. I felt well respected and appreciated within my team, which made me feel no different to the permanent roles within the business. I enjoy being left to get on with a task independently which I was on a daily basis, this allowed me to prove my work ethic and resulted in me feeling proud when the placement/project was completed.
Support & Guidance
I received a great amount of support from my team and the placement scheme, I was able to talk about any problems openly and help or advice would always be provided. There was not much guidance through-out my placement on how to navigate my role however this was something I worked out and improved on on the way.
Culture
TUI is a lovely place to work at, the company culture is supportive, kind and welcoming. The office atmosphere (and even over teams) is always motivating to work in.
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement at TUI and could ask for nothing more. There has been great opportunities, responsibilities and rewards offered to me through-out! The projects I have worked on have fit my personality so well and so have been very enjoyable.
Yes
Be true to yourself, kind and open minded. Apply yourself to everything you can as TUI offer many opportunities and it's up to you to take them.
