The Role
really enjoyable, challenging but I have learned a lot and verry glad I did it.
The team works very well together and I felt I was making a positive contribution towards it
Plenty of support provided. Trained in all aspects of lab work and office tasks. Help always available if I needed it.
Placement was in a very busy department which occasionally felt slightly overwhelming however on the whole is was manageable with careful time management.
I was responsible for running my student project and also over the year became responsible for moer office tasks
Invaluable experience of working in industry, lab methods, managing work, working with other people.
The Company
Great atmosphere, easy to talk to people, everyone gets on well. Sometimes a little noisy if trying to concentrate
No major problems, took a little longer than expected to hear back after interveiw. Paperwork was e-mailed and not posted which made it a bit more difficult to fill in.
I have attended a number of site mandatory training courses on top of learnings in day to day work. Also attended an instrument training course and was able to work at different sites.

A fast track sheme is offered to IP students for the GSK graduate scheme. I have applied to this and am currently waiting to hear back.
The Culture
Only two other students at my site. We got on well although have not really socialised outside of work. There are also student we work with based in London, some opportunities to go out with them.
Fairly reasonable.
Plenty of palces to eat, cinema. More available in Chelnam (i lived in Gloucester) this is 40mins from work. Little nightlife in Forest of Dean - pubs mainly
Some work outing were organised, new year party, tree clearing for 'orange day' BBQ etc
