  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • really enjoyable, challenging but I have learned a lot and verry glad I did it.

  • The team works very well together and I felt I was making a positive contribution towards it

  • Plenty of support provided. Trained in all aspects of lab work and office tasks. Help always available if I needed it.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Placement was in a very busy department which occasionally felt slightly overwhelming however on the whole is was manageable with careful time management.

  • I was responsible for running my student project and also over the year became responsible for moer office tasks

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Invaluable experience of working in industry, lab methods, managing work, working with other people.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Great atmosphere, easy to talk to people, everyone gets on well. Sometimes a little noisy if trying to concentrate

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • No major problems, took a little longer than expected to hear back after interveiw. Paperwork was e-mailed and not posted which made it a bit more difficult to fill in.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have attended a number of site mandatory training courses on top of learnings in day to day work. Also attended an instrument training course and was able to work at different sites.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • A fast track sheme is offered to IP students for the GSK graduate scheme. I have applied to this and am currently waiting to hear back.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Only two other students at my site. We got on well although have not really socialised outside of work. There are also student we work with based in London, some opportunities to go out with them.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Fairly reasonable.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Plenty of palces to eat, cinema. More available in Chelnam (i lived in Gloucester) this is 40mins from work. Little nightlife in Forest of Dean - pubs mainly

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Some work outing were organised, new year party, tree clearing for 'orange day' BBQ etc
