    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The insight programme gave candidates the chance to learn about kpmg and undertake tasks and presentations to improve their knowledge of the business and the work in the offices and when out working with clients. The experience was brief and gave a snapshot of life working at KPMG to help improve knowledge and guide me on my future career path, learning about the industry and whether it was something i wanted to take further in the future

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • the main aspects of the experience was listening to presentations and doing some tasks and exercises. I improved my knowledge of the recruit and assess process as we did some exercises that improved our unserstanding and i now feel i have the skills to pass stages in the process that i have found difficult in the past, for example the numerical tests and other online exercises. The skills learnt for this were helpful and a big opportunity to learn and improve

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • This was my first experience of learning about the different areas of the business and it was helpful knowing where i was best positioned to join the firm in the future. I realised what parts of kpmg need number skills and which need analysis or interpersonal skills for example, so i am better aware of where i could join in the future. I took this knowledge and it helped me progress further in my uni journey secure a placement

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The culture seemed friendly and helpful, and it was good understanding what the offices are like as because of the pandemic it was more difficult travelling to businesses and you could not interview in the office for example. The experience here was more virtual and because of this it was harder to understand the culture despite the inherent difficulties experiencing a physical location, but there were still presenattions on this which helped very much your knowledge

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Yes I enjoyed the experience however it is difficult to be more connected with expperiences during the hybrid set up, than when in an office physically. I did certainly learn new skills and as a take away, was much improved passing tests in the process both at kpmg and at similar firms, where i ultimately progressed my work experiences. I think this sort of thing has helped improve my CV as well as my own skills and understanding

  • 7. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG
  • It is a good place to work and investigate, as they have a lot of roles available and as i said earlier, different roles match with different skills and abilties so if you want to use numbers or be more consultative, you could join say the tax or consulting areas of the firm. It is worth looking into this and gaining an experience as the benefit is strong and can help you progress your career after
