    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role consists of supporting the retail design team, this ranges from sending parcels to shopfitters, overlooking CMP's for projects, responding and being proactive towards maintenance queries, assisting in design work for upcoming counters, using excel to track furniture pieces and answering emails for current projects design works, technical drawings, renders and etc.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have further developed on my Microsoft office skills (Excel and Powerpoint). Learning how to use Powerpoint to its best potential. Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a large amount of responsibility during my placement. I could see the trust grow between the team and myself as time went on and was given more tasks and responsibilities to handle. This varied from big tasks such as handling just one area to ensure delivered the right outcomes for major retailers to smaller tasks like sending out material boards to a shopfitter.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot more support and guidance from the team than I thought I would. As an intern, messing up and making mistakes would make me feel like the world was going to end, but they were constantly there to support me and remind me that making mistakes is good as I learn from them and that it is completely normal. I learned how to persist and how to improve from there.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal
  • Be open to making mistakes. Working for a world-renowned company of the industry you have always wanted to work for can be very intimidating especially in the beginning, but making mistakes is how you learn. I would advice you to just enjoy and trust the process. Enjoy working with people, enjoy the firsts that come with it because you truly only get to experience it for the first time once :)
