The Role
I really enjoyed my placement year at GSK, i was able to experience many different areas that i had no prior knowledge of and was able to develop personally and professionally.I was given real responsibility and delivered real value while there making my placement year feel like it really counted.
My team was amazing!
I had coaching and 1:1 with my managers and also was able to mentored and coached by other staff within GSL
it varies the best advice would be to ask for as much work as possible and by taking intiative there is work for you to be very busy. at some points it is very boring especially at the very begining and very end of placement.
I was given real projects and tasks that carried real weight and value.
100% best training and development from my immmediate team i was working in was supporting and developed me personally and professionally. the actual placement team managers for students did not develop me in any way at all and had poor support.
The Company
my team were friendly and i loved the different team activties we took part in.it was very relaxed and very flexible.
The IP scheme manager was unprofessional and treated us as lesser individuals because we was students. the organisation and communication was not there and our managers and team were the only support. the placement scheme managers and sponsors played no role and was not there to help us develope or ogranise anything.
I was able to do my PRINCE2, attend training courses and have coaching and mentoring as well as ITIL.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
i was not impressed with the graduate recrutment process as it was unorganised and not transparent and i feel the scheme is too long and does not have progression after the scheme. in the future i would apply for a normal perm job at GSK instead of their graduate ITDP scheme
The Culture
lots of students on placement.
i didnt really go out often we had the occasional pub lunch outs which averaged at about £10 maximum.
i didnt really go out in the evenings as i had to commute for a long amount of time.
i didnt really go out after work for drinks or anything there was a tennis club that some students took part in.
