The Role
Over a year long placement I learnt a lot about what I want to get out of my career and the structure of a top pharmaceutical company.
Everyone I worked with was friendly and eager to help with any of my questions. Activities outside of work that involved the department really helped to cement relationships.
Great support and guidance by supervisor. Always happy to make time to discuss my project.
Good mix of lab based work and office based work. Meetings allowed me to present my findings on a regular basis.
Trust in my ability as a scientist meant that I was given responsibility for my experiments, and also the chance to organise projects with other departments.
Lab and analysis techniques will be useful skills which I will take into my future career. Time management and presentation skills will also be crucial skills for life.
The Company
Staff were easy to talk to and friendly.
Placement was well organised.
Was given extensive training in skills that I would require for my placement, along with other computer based learning packages that helped me to understand how the company worked on a legal and global scale.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop

Great company to work for and made working life challenging and fun. Future employment prospects would definitely get serious consideration.
The Culture
Great number of other students so making friends was easy. Plenty of opportunities at the weekends and evenings to have fun.
Being close to London makes socialising a bit more expensive, however living expenses were very reasonable.
Nightlife in London is incredible with loads to see and do. Stevenage nightlife is limited, however with CAMRA having it's centre in St Albans there are loads of great pubs in and around the Stevenage area.
The gym has plenty to do outside of normal work with tournaments, lessons and information on clubs around Stevenage to join.
