Overview
My year at L'Oréal has been a fantastic experience that has allowed me to thrive and grow both professionally and personally. Taking on the role of an intern means you are faced with a variety of different responsibilities within marketing, this may be social media, PR, Store activations or E-Comm. Having the opportunity to be exposed to all these areas really helps give you direction for the future.
Skills
This invaluable experience is something I will forever be grateful for. I have learnt many skills within the marketing field, hard skills such as using photoshop, working with agencies effectively and soft skills such as leadership and problem-solving which I have not really had the opportunity to develop in the past. With the support of my manager, confidence is the skill that I have developed most this year. Having had the opportunity to take ownership of my own project I was able to develop confidence with working within a team which also over time allowed me to develop my self confidence too.
Responsibilities
Yes. Responsibility, taking ownership and facing challenges is the best way to really learn and grow within your chosen field. At times, this proved be be quite stressful but with the support of my manager I was able to effectively organise and prioritise tasks to ensure my responsibitlies were not too overwhelming.
Support & Guidance
The sheer amount of support and guidance provided by my manager and wider team was really incredible. I would say having a strong relationship with your manager is crucial to really enjoying your placement year.
Culture
I would describe the company as having a strong positive work culture. From the first day I began my placement it was clear that the company prioritise the well being of it's employers, something that is often overlooked in many businesses.
Your Impressions
My time at L'Oréal has been invaluable. Working within an industry that you are passionate about is extremely important, and I am most definitely passionate about L'Oréal. Working at this company has been an expectational way to really kick start my career and I will forever be grateful for this experience.
Yes
It's extremely important that you come across as someone who is optimistic, excited and most of all passionate about the industry. Passion is what turns an okay job into an amazing job.
