Overview
As a Marketing Intern, my tasks would vary a lot day to day. These would consist of anything from asset creation/design to localising product descriptions and messaging supplier by the central office.
Skills
I have further developed my management skills, as well as becoming more proactive due to the responsibility given to me. Interacting with a variety of people on a daily basis, helped further my communication and other inter-personal skills. On a more personal level, I've noticed a significant improvement in my presentation abilities. L'Oréal offers access to some really useful training programmes, which are worthwhile utilising.
Responsibilities
You are given lot's of responsibility from the off really, you are expected to just get on with your tasks whilst simultaneously learning about the functions of your role. This is stressful initially, but becomes quite rewarding when you see the results.
Support & Guidance
It varies depending what team you find yourself in. There is a lot of support from your wider team, other interns, NextGen committee and the Early Careers team.
Culture
The atmosphere at L'Oréal is very fast-paced, you have to be reactionary to what's going on around you. Everyone is very friendly and outgoing, so is easy to build a network. There is culture of promoting within, so you see a lot of people changing roles within the business.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed the fast paced, hands-on experience over the year at L'Oréal. I have developed hugely and would really recommend it to anyone looking to advance their personal & professional development. The social side of the year has been great and I have formed a great group of friends from it.
Yes
There is a fast-paced culture (as mentioned above), so self-motivation and a desire for this type of atmosphere will definitely help. You will definitely be challenged to push yourself, which is why you'll feel you have grown by the end. Expect a certain level of responsibility in your position, and to work on important projects throughout the year, and develop both personally and professionally as a result
