Overview
The Amazon Discover Insight program is a 2 day event and was filled with very exciting and interesting sessions, such as coding challenges (solo and in a group) with a mentor from Amazon as well as discovery sessions hosted by employees working in Amazon, which gave really good insight into Amazon.
Skills
- Soft skills such as communication and team working - Software and programming (topics such as Object Oriented Programming and Algorithms and Data Structures)
Business Insight
It was very interesting to see the whole range of potential roles and opportunities and useful to have an insight for making an application in software engineering
Culture
Everyone seemed like they really enjoyed working in Amazon and from the sessions, it was clear that Amazon highly promotes good company culture, for example, Affinity Groups. Affinity groups brings employees from different backgrounds together, hence strengthening the atmosphere.
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed the insight program. Although the coding challenges can be slightly overwhelming, it helps you focus on software topics you might not be familiar with. It also helps to learn more about the company, what potential roles are available and the recruitment process.
