Skills
I have developed: -Creative and design skills while working on POS -numerical and data analysis skills -organizational skills, time management and ability to work under pressure, especially with time constrains -communication and presentation skills
Responsibilities
Since the Irish market is considerably smaller compared to the UK, my team was only compose by two people: my manager and I. We are managing 4 categories (skin, sun, body and Mens), and managing 4 brands (Garnier, Ambre Solaire, L'Oreal Paris and Men Expert). Therefore I was given much responsibility and probably a higher work load than the UK interns, but this has helped me to develop personal and professional skills and especially to increase my knowledge of the industry.
Support & Guidance
One week handover was not enough to explain in depth all the tasks that I was going to perform on a daily basis, therefore I think it should be changed to a two weeks handover. Although, because we are a small team, I received much support and guidance from my teams members especially at the beginning.
Culture
Because we are a smaller team, everyone knows everyone on a personal level and the atmosphere is friendly and healthy. I always felt valued and respected as a person and employee.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement, not only because of the healthy and friendly environment in the office, but also because I was able to work on bigger projects and wear multiple hats. My role was not monotonous and repetitive, I was only working on something new since I was managing multiple brands and categories at the same time.
Yes
Be ambitious and always give your best, because your effort at L'Oreal will be always valued and recognized.
