Overview
My role was to assist commercial controllers with setting up and managing accruals based off event planning uploaded by marketing teams on to a business planning platform. Liaising with marketing teams in the Uk and Ireland offices to manage accruals per customer promotions. Also chasing for approval of events via BPM making sure that events are audit compliant before being set up in SAP. Managing Rebate setup via SAP, making sure details in BPM are accurate in SAP and Updating the list of provisions to be distributed to all marketing teams weekly.
Skills
- Increase in Excel knowledge - Basic knowledge of SAP - Improvement of of time management and prioritising - Better communication skills, More use of Email and Teams.
Responsibilities
From my first day I was thrown in to the job, responsibility was a lot to handle straight away. Although daunting it was a good way for me to learn. Although challenging this was a great opportunity to for me to grow and learn. This shows that the company trusts and believes in your abilities from an early point in your placement. Although this allowed me to make some mistakes, i was able to learn faster that if i was to just be told what to do step by step.
Support & Guidance
For the most part I was expected to use my initiative and handover notes to action daily tasks however when I was unable to navigate a task alone the help and knowledge I did receive was very helpful.
Culture
I love the loreal atmosphere specifically in CPD, I had a fun understanding team who were hard working as well as bubbly and welcoming. There were many team building activities, Lunch's and company socials , great opportunities to meet other employees and start networking with senior members in my field.
Your Impressions
This placement was one of the most challenging things I've done but defiantly the most rewarding. I have learnt career developing skills that have helped improve my knowledge on the industry I intend to go into as well has having the opportunity to experience corporate life and make industry connections with seasoned professionals. As well as making positive career connections loreal has a large cohort of interns and apprentices, I have made some great friends who are also on placement and it has been great experiencing this year with them too.
