Overview
Day-to-day my role consisted of speaking internally with my team following up on projects and their status as well as contacting customers on behalf of my colleagues to arrange meetings about their project. Also, I would manage the points budgets of all our customers making sure we do not over run on the budget as well as creating new projects with customer that had remaining budget from previous projects.
Skills
Since starting my placement I have developed my customer service skills when writing emails to customers as something I had not had much experience in before. My technical knowledge since the training month has developed significantly and now understand different types of technical services we can offer alongside our system. My time management skills have improved as I have been managing my own time as well as the three consultant's time too.
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility as soon as starting the role such as, being the point of contact for some premium customers. I gained more responsibilities along the way for example, solely responsible for the Prospect Points for all customers as well as writing some of the service catalog for the Premium Services Team.
Support & Guidance
My team have been supportive throughout the placement as they have always answered any questions I have had and have always been helpful with showing and explaining to me the more technical side of their roles. Outside of my immediate team, other managers and colleagues have been supportive also when needing their assistance with project related questions.
Culture
I have enjoyed doing a placement with other university students as we have had a shared experience from completing training together to being in the office together meaning there was always someone around in a similar position to myself. The atmosphere in the company is supportive where everyone is willing to help others as all teams roles interlink at some stage.
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement year as I have think it has helped improve both my personal and professional skills. It has given me the opportunity to try a career in an industry that did not directly align with my degree so I have been able to gain more transferable skills to take back to university. I have enjoyed being able to live in a new city with some of the other placements, who have definitely made my placement an enjoyable experience.
