Overview
Daily checks of all equipment that pose an environmental risk. Working on projects to save the site money and help it become more sustainable. Work with data and on projects that lead the site closer towards the Planet 2030/50 goals set out by corporate.
Skills
Developed professional skills such as data analysis, reporting, and presenting. Developed personal skills with my confidence, teamwork, and adaptability to new and ever-changing situations in the workplace.
Responsibilities
I was given specific projects to work on but was never a project leader. I enjoyed the responsibility I was given but would have liked more long-term projects to work on. Project work will always be good for students to be involved in.
Support & Guidance
There was more guidance and support from colleagues rather than my manager. My manager rarely gave me a lot of work so it was up to me to find work from my colleagues to fill my time and thus the support from them was most helpful.
Culture
It was a nice place to work. Colleagues were able to chat regularly and have funny times alongside the professional element of the job. I enjoyed coming to work and talking to people. Opportunities for sport and meet-ups outside of work too.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement. I was able to learn skills and gain valuable experience for a career in the environmental sector which is what i wanted. I was able to make friends with my team and live in a new area which I would never have come to.
Yes
Research the company before applying and bring knowledge on those initiatives to the interview. Try and implement yourself as early as possible to get the best chance of being involved in projects or you wont be included in them.
