Overview
Day to day I work closely to my line manager reporting on countries results in satisfaction survey and working out ways to increase the number of surveys that are completed. I am in constant communication with our suppliers and our Branch contacts over emails and teams meetings.
Skills
Developed Excel and email skills, having only had to use in a personal way and the corporate use is very different. Evolved my presentation skills in front of different management levels and to larger audiences, not all who speak English as their first language. Developed organization of events such as workshops and awards. Built confidence in networking skills with people who have been in the business world a lot longer than I
Responsibilities
My line manager split her responsibilities between her and I. This gave me a great sense of responsibility as it is only the two of us in our team. I was constantly learning on the job with new activities happening throughout the year that my manager had not dine before so I helped and learned with them, developing different processes and learning from our actions that could be improved for next time.
Support & Guidance
I received constant support whilst also being left to learn and discover on my own with the security that there was help if I needed it. Being new to the corporate world I knew very little about abbreviations and terminology, my manager and team around me would always answer my questions and I never felt nervous to ask.
Culture
Everyone in Honda are welcoming and friendly. You are encouraged to learn about the different aspects in the business that may not be in your direct role. I think this is a reason why so many of my peers and managers have stayed with Honda so long. You are invited to learn new skills and learn about different areas of the business.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement and I think this was primarily due to having a wonderful line manager who taught me so much not only about my specific role but also of how to act and hold yourself in a business environment.
Yes
Honda Motor Europe is more critical thinking and analysis so it is more for data orientated people. It is a wonderful environment to learn in especially if it is your first time working in the corporate world.
