    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • In my role I gain practical experience in managing the delivery of IT services to customers. I work alongside service management professionals and contribute to the successful delivery of IT services to customers. My responsibilities include monitoring our service level agreements, working with the customer to understand their needs and provide and overview of how we are performing, look for areas we can improve in and working with my network to ensure the seamless provision of our services. Also, I help assist in the financial management of the account, and learn from my colleagues about financial forecasting and the financial processes of the account.

  • I have developed my presentation skills, confidence, management of meetings and also my general skills in IT. This year has also advanced my skills in using applications like Excel.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a vast amount of responsibility in my placement. Some areas I saw responsibility include billing, asset management, customer presentations and also assisting in improving the customers experience.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Through Computacenters support scheme, I had easy access to a network of colleagues within the company. My boss was supportive and allowed me the independence to work on different tasks. Also, I was assigned a buddy who was extremely helpful and great to speak to for a general chat about my progress and well being. If you want support it is easy to find within the company from all levels.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture is pleasant and the general atmosphere is good. If you want to work hard and are willing to expand your network there are certainly opportunities to do so. Like any new stage or experience it can be daunting but having a trusted colleague supporting you within the company can be very helpful.

  • I have enjoyed the experience. It is a brilliant opportunity to learn in a resilient industry with a great apprenticeship rating. Due to the company's size, I felt it was easy to connect with people in your sector and everyone makes time for you to learn and progress.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter
  • I had no idea about ComputaCenter before I joined, however that does not matter. If you are willing to learn then it is a great company to join. I would recommend learning what the company does before joining but being prepared to have challenges as its important for your progression!
