Overview
I start my mornings by joining the stand-up with other developers. After the meeting, I pick up or resume a task from the sprint. This may involve working with a range of technologies such as Azure, C#, Vue.js, TypeScript, and more. In between working on tasks in the sprint, I test other tasks that my fellow developers have completed.
Skills
While working at ProspectSoft, I’ve learned how to use OData, Azure, Azure DevOps (Pipelines), and various accounting systems. I’ve also developed my overall programming skills and learned how to work in a large code base. Additionally, I’ve gained various interpersonal skills as a result of communicating and working with various people around the company.
Responsibilities
Yes, when picking an item from the sprint during development, I was entirely responsible for the item during its development lifecycle. If I required additional information or help, I was personally responsible for seeking it out. Overall, I wasn't restricted in the tasks I could pick up even if the feature was pivotal to the next software release.
Support & Guidance
ProspectSoft provided a huge amount of support during my placement. I was given a mentor throughout my time at the company to whom I could ask any technical questions or queries I had. Moreover, I had a weekly one-to-one where I could ask questions and was given constructive feedback that I could implement moving forwards.
Culture
Everyone was open and friendly, I could ask anyone anything. When initially starting at the company, we had a barbeque so that all the placement could get to know the wider company.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed every moment and have met so many new and interesting people that have made it a pleasure to come to work every day.
