    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Most of my time was spent consolidating data from a number of sources for monthly and weekly reports. Had to use data to analyse trends and market performance, and build actionable insights for the business. A lot of time was also spent on ad-hoc tasks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • This year I learnt a lot of new skills, most of them being technical and related to my day to day role. I have also built on my time management, communication and presentation skills through everyday tasks. Having managed the relationship between L'Oreal and an external agency, I have also developed my ability to create, and maintain, professional relations.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I was often asked to help out on projects which were at zone/global level and were used to make important business decisions. I also often worked on important tasks for Senior stakeholders and the data I consolidated every month was used for the division's monthly reporting.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • As the intern before me had left early, I didn't have a handover period so felt like I had to learn a lot of things on my own at the start. However, my manager and other members of the team were very supportive and provided a lot of guidance in order to make sure I knew what I was doing. Throughout the year, I received a lot of support from my manager and she continuously encouraged me to ask questions on things I was unsure of.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Majority of the people at L'Oreal are very friendly and outgoing which makes it really easy to meet new people and build connections. The team that I am part of is quite diverse and social which made it quite easy to integrate into.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time at L'Oreal. I was given a lot more responsibility than I expected, and had the opportunity to learn a wide range of skills that I can utilise in my future career. I have built a number of strong connections with people across the company which has allowed me to learn a lot about the wider business.

  • Ensure you are familiar with the different brands which L'Oreal owns and be yourself throughout the application process. Be ready to be given a lot of responsibility and to work in a fast paced environment
