Overview
Mainly using excel to audit the numbers seen in accounts present in BS and P&L. Verifying the accuracy of financial statements presented by the client. Also involves quite a bit of client interaction in order to audit accounts.
Skills
Significantly developed excel skills, learnt a large amount of knowledge about excel and keyboard shortcuts. Developed communication and professionalism skills from querying clients regarding their accounting. Developed teamwork skills significantly from always being in an environment where you are working with a team. Also developed better attention to detail skills which is required to spot mistakes in the accounts being audited
Responsibilities
Given as much responsibility as a first year graduate would be given. This was ideal as it allowed me to learn a large amount in a short amount of time and completely experience what it would be like to have a graduate role at EY
Support & Guidance
A lot of support and guidance was received in the form of the counsellor/line manager that was assigned to me. My counsellor was very easy to approach and always able to help if I needed suppprt
Culture
General atmosphere was upon joining was very welcoming. Everyone is friendly and helpful to new joiners. Company culture is healthy with regular social events mixed in between the hard work that is put in.
Your Impressions
Enjoyed my placement for multiple reasons.I was always surrounded by friendly and helpful people allowing me to always be able to reach out to people even when struggling with the work I was given. I also enjoyed my placement as I was not limited by the work that was given. I was given sufficiently difficult work allowing me to challenge myself and make the most out of the placement
