Overview
Daily tasks include validating mature and immature systems, building/ researching test equipment used to validate said systems. Daily interactions include leasing with stakeholders within my function to ensure validation of systems are on schedule. My responsibilities vary but some include; Building and testing hardware / software, Configuring/ setting up instrumentation to the correct parameters, Producing engineering drawings and test procedures, writing technical reports and conducting trials from an ISV perspective.
Skills
Learning soft skills such as people managing/ organisational skills, team work and time management. Learning Technical skills such as soldering, mechanical design (CAD) and installing graphics cards. Learning different code languages.
Responsibilities
I was given many opportunities throughout my placement, these included building hardware on a fast paced project, developing code on a piece of test equipment I designed and conducting a trial on a high value system.
Support & Guidance
I was provided with two managers who were very supportive and happy to take time out of there day to show me how things are build, developed and designed. With this support, I was able to learn quickly and able to confidently navigate challenging but rewarding work.
Culture
I felt valued, supported and motivated to do the best possible work I could. I feel the company is trust worthy and transparent fostering a sense of belonging and loyalty among the stakeholders. I felt encouraged to collaborate with the wider company stakeholders and the company. The company preaches a good work life balance with its use of dynamic work.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed every part of it from working offsite and experiencing new ways of working (agile working). To building and validating complex systems comprised of many sub-systems.

Take up every opportunity thrown at you even if it seems daunting and out of your depth the support is there to allow you to succeed.
