Overview
My role consisted of assisting the team in managing their accounts, with the main responsibilities including the set-up of new products, weekly reporting for all retailers and data analysis to investigate future opportunities for the business.
Skills
My internship allowed me to work on my Excel skills, as it was a vital software within my day-to-day work. I also developed my confidence when presenting in front of more senior members of staff, as well as confidence in the work I was producing.
Responsibilities
There was lots of responsibility handed to me from the very beginning, but that made the work more rewarding as it meant people actually relied on the work you were doing. A lot of the more seemingly mundane tasks are some of the most important when it comes to launching new products, for example, and the admin for set-up fell mostly in my scope of responsibility.
Support & Guidance
There was never a point in which I did not feel like I could ask for help throughout my whole internship, whether from my manager, wider team or even from the rest of the division. I felt very supported all year.
Culture
L'Oreal is an extremely sociable company, with many extroverted workers. This makes it such a lovely place to work, as everyone is always so ready to have a chat or help out, and there are also regular socials for brands/retailers/divisions.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement year, and although there were some stressful times, I think it has really helped me develop.
Yes
Research the brands, divisions and overall structure before applying, as it may help you understand where in the business you want to end up.
