Overview
My role was to recruit experienced hires for vacancies across the business. Day to day responsibilities included posting jobs, screening CVs, job launch calls with hiring managers, sourcing candidates, scheduling interviews, delivering interview feedback, offering jobs, creating employment agreements.
Skills
I have gained lots more confidence in myself, developed my people skills, learnt how to source for candidates, developed prioritising tasks and working to deadlines, conflict resolution scenarios, and written communication skills with emails.
Responsibilities
I was given lots of responsibility and was expected to work independently with my own workload from roughly 3 months in.
Support & Guidance
I had a very supportive team with a group chat to ask any questions. I had 1 to 1 meetings with my manager every other week and another mentor figure to support me throughout the year. There was also a monthly call with the UK team for us all to help each other and offer advice/brainstorm. Overall I felt very comfortable asking anyone in my team for help.
Culture
The company culture at the [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was a little strange as I felt people were very resistant to change and the longer your length of service was the more respect you deserved. As a result I felt sometimes my status as a placement student meant that people didn’t feel the need to respond to me or do what I asked them to do in order to complete processses.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement year overall, as I liked the work I was doing day to day. Working on the [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] did present difficulties that made me feel discouraged at times, but overall it was a positive experience and I met lots of great people.
Yes
Expect lots of hands on experience and responsibility, but for such a big global company don’t expect anything fancy/perks/extras
