The Role
I found it really good to be in a job that relates to my degree and therefore what I have been learning at university for the last 3 years.
I was given projects that were relied upon by other scientists and entire larger projects.
My supervisor always offered support when I needed or asked for it.
Generally I was always quite busy although there were times when I was more and less busy than that.
I was in main control of my project to synthesise my molecules. My supervisor oversaw what I did.
The skills I have learnt will prove vital in the next year at uni and my PhD and career later on.
The Company
The atmosphere in our office was good.
Starting the placement was quite challenging with all of the emails that had to be sent with forms that had been read and signed off. I found that very stressful as some forms weren't sent/received properly and more forms were sent close to starting the placement.
The company provided a lot of training at the start of the placement to enseure that I was ready to start the job and also more training during my placement when something new was required or an aspect of training needed to be furthered.

I would love to get a job with GSK after I graduate. The company really respects and values its employees.
The Culture
There was a very good social scene. As there are a lot of IP's every year (more than 100) there are a lot of people to socialise so there will always be a group of people willing to do what you want to do.
The cost of living is quite high here presumably due to Stevenage's proximity to London. Taxis are also very expensive. This limits nights out. However trains to and from London are very good.
There are not many clubs in Stevenage and the ones here are pretty bad, but there are plenty of pubs and decent places to eat with a variety of styles of food.
There are lots of opportunities, there are running clubs, dancing, St Johns ambulance, martial arts and more.
