    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • In my role, each day is different depending on the audit you are assisting on. That means you could be listening to calls from customers to see how advisors are acting or reviewing policies and procedures from one day to another. The main responsibility of the role each month is to prepare to report for the Board of Management.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed a plethora of existing skills, mainly including my time management skills and organisation skills. Another useful skill I have developed is my presentation skills from the workshop put on for us by the Learning and Development team. I have also learned new skills such as networking skills and Tableau skills which will be very useful to take forward into my career.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I have been given responsibility in my role to complete different parts of work myself and was responsible for feeding this back to the lead auditor. Additionally, I was given responsibility to create the report for the Board of Management and ensure this was delivered on time. However, due to being an undergraduate, I was mainly learning from the lead auditor and so there is not as much opportunity to be given responsibilities.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was given large amounts of support and guidance by my team and my line manager. For the first six months, I received monthly probation meetings where I was given feedback on my performance and any areas in which I could improve and I found this very useful. In addition, all of my team would be constantly available to answer any questions or concerns I would have and I am very grateful for this.
