Overview
The law Law firm had a very open atmosphere from my first to last day. Moreover every day was uniquely interesting as work could suddenly arrive from another Associate or Partner. Stephenson Harwood we’re very gracious in providing food amenities in the form of daily vouchers and overall everyone from the non -legal to legal staff were very approachable and eager to speak to me. Ultimately it was a very rewarding 2 weeks.
Skills
I have definitely improved a lot of my existing skills, particularly networking. I found that my ability to approach and converse with senior management was greatly improved from my past legal experiences. Ultimately I found that this was greatly aided by the fact that the people at the firm have an eagerness to speak to all people irrespective of their positions or ranks.
Business Insight
I found learning about the business element of the firm to be very insightful. I always understood the general importance of providing excellent legal services to clients but after listening to the insightful knowledge from the partners at the firm, I also took into consideration the firms operation as a business and the target revenues the firm has yearly. Ultimately it was very insightful to learn more about the firms developmental aspirations.
Culture
The culture was extremely welcoming and I particularly noted the ease at which I was able to talk with several people irrespective of their positions. Prior to the vacation scheme I was anticipating a slightly more intense work atmosphere but I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong, as I found that in reality it was much more calm and open minded.
Your Impressions
I was very appreciative of the various insights provided by the firm. Moreover personally I was able to attend various webinars and workshops with the current trainee intake which I found the delivery to be excellent.
Yes
I would say it is important to first highlight what your interested in and after researching the firm consider whether or not you align with the firms vision and would ideally see yourself working there for the long term. Furthermore I would also advise any future applicant to have a diverse pool of sources when researching the firm, so that you can paint the most accurate picture of the firm as possible.
