Overview
The role is vast in terms of the tasks you undertake, and the managers get you stuck in straight away. I have never been sat with nothing to do - there always something going on, whether that be on site all day or in the office tackling admin tasks.
Skills
I have learnt a plethora of new skills such as improving my proficiency in MS Office applications, improving my communication and networking skills as well as boosting my professional development. It is such a good way of applying knowledge from university into the workplace, which I found really solidified my theoretical learning.
Responsibilities
I was actually surprised about how much responsibility I was given to draft documents that would be sent out to clients, consultants and contractors. Alongside this, I was entrusted to take meeting minutes, draft e-mails and encouraged to contribute in meetings with stakeholders.
Support & Guidance
There was always someone you ask for help, advice, or something to do. Never did I feel lost on what to do, or bored with no work. Everyone is happy to help you, not just your line manager which I thought really elevated the experience.
Culture
The atmosphere was great. Hard working however everyone was also very approachable and happy to talk - they all treated me as part of the team, not just the intern.
Your Impressions
My internship has been life changing, I have no doubt. The amount I have learnt in such a small space of time is testament to the great structure they have at Cushman & Wakefield as well as the support and guidance they provide for you.
Yes
Be yourself, be personable, and don't be afraid to show who you are and why Cushman & Wakefield should choose you. They aren't looking for experts for the internship, they are looking for people who will fit well into the company culture and who have a great interest in the built environment & real estate.
