Overview
Over the two weeks, we had a series of informative talks delivered by staff across the whole business exploring the valuable work they do and how it fits into the wider aims of the firm. When not at these brilliant events, we were sat with our excellent trainers from different practice areas and trusted with work that fed into live matters. Our trainers provided world-class supervision so that we understood the mandates we were involved with.

Business Insight
It was great understanding all about the business and potential roles available as the firm took an active approach in introducing us to trainees, associates, partners across a wide range of practice areas. This was through a series of interactive workshop style sessions where we delved into the work done within these different areas. We were also extremely fortunate to be introduced to staff from other business functions, which really opened our eyes to the plethora of opportunities available.
Culture
It was the greatest culture and atmosphere I’ve experienced within a corporate setting. Every single person I encountered was extremely welcoming and easy to get along with. Everyone was willing to take time out of their busy schedules to have a chat and give advice on how best to gain the most from the scheme. Even partners, who I appreciate have very busy schedules, were so accommodating and took out time to meet with us.
Your Impressions
I absolutely loved my two weeks at the firm. The level of guidance and support to facilitate an enriching experience was unparalleled. It was clear the firm wanted us to get the most out of the experience and, as such, put in place a scheme that enabled massive personal and professional growth. The Graduate Recruitment Team were fundamental in ensuring this by being on hand for all our questions and facilitating all the excellent sessions we had across the two weeks.
Yes
Engage with the resources the firm puts out to showcase the work it’s lawyers do and the experiences they undergo whilst doing this. Examples include podcasts, graduate recruitment events and on campus events. Doing this would allow you to clearly articulate the reasons why you want to join A&O and what sets it apart from others. You could also reach out to current and future trainees for advice.
