Overview
My responsibilities included competitor analysis, financial reporting, content creation with an external agency, and handling the day to day management of the test drive programme. At TGB there is a lot of flexibility for how you work, on average I was in the office 3 days per week, and WFH 2 days.
Skills
I have developed many personal and professional skills such as communication, presentation, and time management. I have also developed my excel skills.
Responsibilities
I was given genuine responsibility during my placement, but with support if I needed it. This meant that I was able to push myself in projects, but I knew that I wasn't alone. I was also able to see the value I provided throughout the year, as my work was often used by those higher up and with the centres.
Support & Guidance
My manager and PDCA mentor were great and very supportive throughout the year. The wider team I was in was also fantastic and always available to help.
Culture
The company culture and general atmosphere was great, there is a true feeling of being valued as a person and those around you wanting the best for you. Flexible working options mean you don't have to sacrifice personal plans and responsibilities for work, and being trusted to get the work done in a way that suits you made for a pleasant work environment.
Your Impressions
I greatly enjoyed my time at TGB, there was varied work to do throughout the year, with real responsibilities and value being added. The team I was in was fantastic and there were so many great opportunities that I got to make the most of.
Yes
Though it may seem like you should have a significant amount of knowledge about cars working for one of the largest car companies, this is not the case and you can absolutely apply and thrive within your role with a minimal knowledge of cars. Look for the values that Toyota values and see how they align with yours.
