Overview
Shadowing the track maintenance team. Attending meetings Data analysis combining tack and geotechnical data. Placement is what you make of it.

Data analysis, office skills, presenting to directors, communication and time management, personal track safety
Responsibilities
Yes, completed my own project supervised by senior engineers. Had the responsibility of setting thresholds which resulted in Track intervention actions
Support & Guidance
Regular feedback from seniors. Twice weekly progress meetings.
Culture
Different cultures in different areas of the business. Feels corporate in head office, and then gang culture in the maintenance depots “orange army”. There’s a culture and working environment for everyone.
Your Impressions
Placement crescendoed the more people I met and more opportunities this opened up. At first it was very steady learning the business which was frustrating as I wanted a project from the start.
