Overview
Interned in the Loans and Acquisition Finance team. Day-to-day tasks included spreading comps, putting together slides for pitches, research projects, Market Updates, and maintaining databases. Also involved on M&A, putting together information memorandum for different counterparties and sending around notes post-client meetings.
Skills
I developed greatly my understanding of legal concepts, of the Loan product, but also critical thinking skills stemming from a research project that I worked on with an Associate - where I learned to be critical of data sources and not just use them at face value, but to see what story they are able to tell in the context of what we were trying to show.
Responsibilities
Yes - a lot of responsibility was given to interns as the Manager had a philosophy of interns being treated as Analysts during our time here. Consequently we were given every opportunity to prove ourselves and were gradually given more and more complex and involved tasks to do.
Support & Guidance
A lot of support - work or otherwise
Culture
Amazing culture, great people. Very supportive team and manager - keen to see your growth and potential. Manager is amazing in pushing you to be your best but also at being keen to see you grow
Your Impressions
Enjoyed to fullest the extent! Team made an effort into providing a relaxed environment where you could always grab someone for a chat, help, or anything else. Juniors tried to integrate us into the Team and Manager also. Work was really interesting and I can see myself doing this sort of stuff in the future.
Yes
It's okay to relax and not stress too much. Let your work speak for yourself and let your personality shine through.
