The Role
I enjoyed learning about industrial chemistry as I have had no previous experience, as a result I have learned alot and met mny new people from many different backgrounds and cultures.
The people working here are mostly very easy to work with and they treat every person with respect.
My supervisor and other colleagues in the lab are always around to give advice and help when needed.
Mostly I am kept very busy with my work and when not soo busy gives me time to work on different aspects of work which gives a nice balance.
I was nearly fully responsible for all the work i was given to do. In the lab I was fully responsible for my labwork.
My skills and knowledge have increased greatly since being here in the lab and with discussing my work with colleagues. The speech skills, computer skills and confidence I have gained will transfer to many applications.
The Company
The lab was usually a very enjoyable place to work as people were very sociable and the music in the lab always kept me enjoying my time.
The organisisation was very impressive, IPs were treated as full-time employees and were always involved in activities and ongoing work.
I was constantly learning from various employees and using many different apparatus. People listened to how my work was progressing every week.
Above 25 days holiday
I would very much like to get a permanent job but I dont think there are many on offer.
The Culture
Most of the students I worked with were very sociable and always enjoyed a good pub trip. Some permanent staff also came out occasionally but mostly it was just IPs.
The social aspect of Stevenage is not great, although there are some okay pubs in old town and ther many of them. Apart from that, the socialising places are poor. Cost of living is more expensie compared to other parts of UK but I suppose its due to the face
The nightclubs on offer in Stevenage are grim. Chicagos is terrible and so is the other club. Some of the pubs offer good bands on Friday and Saturday night, however the pubs are full of worst variety of people. But having parties with the other IPs is always good fun, that can happen in any place though.
Sports such as 5-a-side in the gym with other people from work in a lewague was good fun and there was also a couple of other 5-a-sides on offer. ther doesnt seem any other fun activities available in stevenage though. Cycling I suppose but Stevenage is grim so it was not much fun cycling in stevenage.
