Vacation Scheme Participant Review

I sat in two different practice areas. Over the course of the Scheme, I attended presentations about the firm's practice areas and the firm's wider culture in general. I undertook a research task each week and had a number of 1-to-1 sessions with different members of the firm to share experiences and answer questions. I also assisted my supervisors in their day to day work, including Pro Bono matters alongside fee earning work.

I honed my time management and organisation skills with managing meetings and assessed tasks day to day. I also practiced my networking skills and gained further insight into how different practice areas work as well as how a law firm operates as a business.

It was very eye-opening on different levels. I built on existing knowledge on the practice areas I was familiar with and learnt about new areas of expertise I could explore in the future.

It was a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The firm's lawyers were all keen to speak about their own experiences and about the firm. I also learnt about the different committees and Affinity Groups that the people of the firm can get involved with from the beginning of their career with the firm.

I learnt a lot during the scheme and it was very enjoyable, both from an experience perspective but also in terms of meeting different people around the firm.
