Overview
I attended in-depth talks about various practice areas, affinity groups and committees within the firm. I also got involved in writing a research memo for each department I sat in and ad-hoc tasks given by my supervisor, such as drafting and proofreading documents. I also got to attend training sessions for associates and team meetings. There were also social events on some days, such as darts or dinner and drinks.
Skills
Through getting a firsthand experience in doing legal work, I learned how to draft documents according to term sheets, gained an understanding of technical concepts such as securitisation and legal research. On top of work-related skills, I also developed soft skills such as teamwork and networking.
Business Insight
The networking sessions provided opportunity to gain exclusive and personal insights into the roles and responsibilities of the lawyers in the firm.
Culture
Everyone was very hardworking yet personable. The firm truly celebrates diversity and investing in the professional and personal needs of their lawyers.
