Overview
The first week was an on-boarding and networking week in London. The following 2 weeks were spread evenly across 2 practice groups. In the second week there was an assessed group pitch presentation. The work assigned included due diligence, contract review, document drafting, making notes during client calls, attending court, and legal research.
Skills
I've learned how to conduct due diligence, do share holding reviews, draft documents.
Business Insight
It was really helpful. There's so many opportunities at DLA Piper, and something for everyone
Culture
The company is quite friendly and not stuffy. They are working hard to develop a supportive culture, and it is clearly something that is coming along well. There's room for improvement, but they are actively working on it. The firm works hard and are proud of the level of service they provide.
Your Impressions
Overall it was good. It was absolutely stressful, there's no way around that. The internship is the route to a training contract with DLA, so you are always aware that you're being assessed. I learned a lot on ansd met many great people.
