Overview
My day would involve liaising with stakeholders in the business to gather content that we would then take to convert into digital learning courses using programmes such as articulate. We would then release these courses to be completed by colleagues in the wider business and do the necessary admin tasks that follow.
Skills
100% yes before starting the placement I was defiantly not a digital person so all of the skills I know have I have developed over the past 10 months. The skills I have now I would never have expected to actually have but I am so glad I do. Also I learnt more of the soft skills such as working in a professional office environment for the first time and time management
Responsibilities
Yes I was in my placement there was never a time where I felt like I was just the placement student. I was just another member of the team and given the same responsibilities as everyone else.
Support & Guidance
So much from day one. If ever I had a question there would be someone there to help and this wasn’t only regarding my primary duties of my role. Say I had a question that was relating to university whilst on placement they would help me answer it or I had more of a general question there would be someone who I could turn to to ask
Culture
Very welcoming from day one. At NBS you start off in their early talent program so are you with other placement students, apprentices etc so you never feel like it’s just you and everyone else, you start to with your own network of people you know you can reach out to. We also learn about the societies values and a lot about their volunteering missions
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it very much I can clearly see that taking the year out was crucial for my uni degree plus I think NBS provided the perfect atmosphere and culture and role to give me that first taste of what life could be like after Education. I’ve learn so much this past year and lots of it I could never have imagined myself knowing this time last year
Yes
It is a great place to work and the perfect way to quick off you career or just have a taste of what a potential career could look like after education. There is always someone around to ask for help and they really focus on ensuring colleagues have the support they need
