Overview
Currently working in the credit sales team, this involves providing notes and summaries of different internal meetings suggesting best actions for the sales team depending on requirements from traders. The role also requires me to suggest trade ideas from the team and pitch certain trades I think will be profitable.
Skills
I have improved my ability to explain complex topics, whilst developing skills in Excel for data analysis. I have also learnt a vast amount about different credit products, how they are traded and how they are structured to satisfy different client needs.
Responsibilities
I would say I was given an adequate amount of responsibility given restrictions on some processes within this business area that I can have direct involvement in as an intern. Although, I feel that as the internship goes on I have been given more responsibility.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of guidance during my internship on best practices within the firm, how to make the most of my internship and how to improve at certain important skills. I also received good support from my team when trying to learn concepts relevant to our business area.
Culture
I found the company culture to be very friendly and collaborative. It definitely fostered an environment where it was easy to learn from others and work with people towards a common goal.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my internship as I was able to work and learn from some very intelligent people. It also gave me a fantastic insight into the world of finance, allowing me to experience different roles and help decide what career path I see myself following.
Yes
It is important to always be prepared when going through the application process. You don't necessarily have to be an expert in the division you are applying to, but you must show that you are interested in this business and that you are willing to learn what is required to succeed.
