The Role
I found it extremely interesting and worthwhile. There are over 100 interns in the UK so i've made some great friends and learnt so much.
I felt completely valued by 98% of my colleagues. They would go out of their way to thank me and make sure that I was aware that the input that I was putting in was appreciated.
My manager gave me complete support throughout. No matter how busy he was, he would always make time to check that everything was ok with me and to ask if I had any questions. I didn't feel smothered in any way though - I was left to get on with things but knew that their was guidance and support if I needed it.
My busyness varied throughout the year. There were times when I was in the office until 7pm at night or catching up on work once i'd gone home, but then there were times when I could go into work later or leave early. Perfect balance.
I was given total responsibility. Within my job role I often worked with partners and they were always amazed at the responsibility that is given to Microsoft interns.
Without a doubt, this year has prepared me for my future career far more than University alone and the skills that I have learnt are priceless.
The Company
The atmosphere was fairly quiet but in a good way. It allowed me to get on with my work without being distracted, yet there were people to chat to if I wanted to. Everyone is so friendly and as I got to know my team better I begun to have a real laugh with them.
My manager would always make me aware of extra training opportunities which I would ensure that I went along to.

Working from home
Microsoft is an amazing company to work for. If I could return to the company in a job role that I loved it would be very appealing.
The Culture
We had inter-company socials with interns from nearby companies and an end of year event. We also organised nights out throughout the year.
Around £5 a club and £3-£4 a drink.
