Overview
My role in BCM Assurance involved assisting my seniors with completing lead sheets and important forms. I was also involved in taking down notes during client walkthrough meetings, and was responsible for updating the flowcharts detailing the client's internal processes should any changes be identified during the meetings.
Skills
A new skill I developed was understanding complex processes quickly (ie. within less than an hour), having done so when needing to prepare for my client walkthrough meetings in order to better understand the discussions within said meetings. An existing skill that I developed was communication, particularly with my seniors and intern teammates.
Responsibilities
In terms of responsibility, I was given minor tasks such as completing excel sheets and some administration tasks. However, as I progressed through the internship, I was given more responsibility in the way of needing to create my own flowcharts using the notes I had taken down during the client meetings.
Support & Guidance
I had a buddy and counsellor during my internship, both of whom supported me extensively throughout my internship. I also received support from the seniors I worked with who took the time to explain technical topics regarding my work and gave me useful career and life advice on the side.
Culture
The culture in EY was a very welcoming and accepting one. The people in EY are understanding of your position as an intern, and acknowledge that you have much to learn. They will guide you and help you as much as they can.
Your Impressions
On a scale of 1 to 5, I'd rate my internship enjoyment a 4.5. The internship was just the right length and the work given was meaningful and gave me a sense of accomplishment. Alongside the welcoming and friendly people I met throughout, I would say I really enjoyed this internship.
Yes
Prepare for the video interviews well, and try to practice with some mock questions online before you head into it. Practice your analytical writing as well as that will be important during your online assessment and EY Experience Day.
