Overview
Working within a team of audit professionals on client engagements to prepare for and deliver audits to large client firms. Day-to-day sitting in on team meetings, undertaking admin tasks and basic audit tasks, being mentored by graduate employees.
Skills
Developed my Excel skills, gained an understanding of the audit process, learnt more about how to interact in a corporate environment and talk to clients and seniors.
Responsibilities
Yes, given tasks to undertake on my own to help the audit team complete the audit.
Support & Guidance
Interns were allocated buddies and counsellors to help settle in and monitor progress, and within the project work I was mentored by a graduate.
Culture
Positive, I felt valued and safe despite being one of many in a large corporate setting. Culture is very people-focused.
Your Impressions
I much enjoyed getting a feel for the corporate atmosphere and a first insight into the world of work, and enjoyed meeting new people. The audit work itself did not particularly interest me.
Yes
Read up on the company's values because they take these seriously. Think carefully about the division you want to apply to and why.
