Overview
Assisting the Natural Resources and Clean Energy Transition team on live deals, pitches, updating investor portfolios and comps, through the use of Excel, PowerPoint, FactSet and MergerMarket.
Skills
I have developed my Excel skills through learning shortcuts and new formulas and creating a variety of charts. I have also developed my PowerPoint skills by understanding how to better format presentations. I am also learning financial modelling skills, such as how to do comps, how to do a football field, and how to do a DCF.
Responsibilities
I was given a significant amount of responsibility as sometimes the Associates or Analysts would ask me to do something myself and I would have to figure it out. They could easily do it themselves in 10 minutes, but are happy to give it to me even if it will take me 3 hours, to ensure that I learn. I can also sit in client calls where I am the youngest person there.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support as the team were happy to walk me through a task to ensure I understood everything before I was instructed to do it myself. The training sessions were also super helpful and we also had our own sector training as well throughout the duration of the internship with homework to submit, which is really helpful in doing the final project.
Culture
It was really friendly and I went on so many coffee chats with people. Everyone really helps you as well and it is so easy to ask questions.
Your Impressions
It has been very enjoyable so far, the interns I am working with and the NRCET team are all super nice. I enjoy the staffings I am working on as well as the people I am working with.
Yes
Be a human when talking to the interviewer and let your personality shine. Equally, do make sue that you know the technical knowledge required.
