Overview
The first week involved a lot of nationwide company training. We began by learning about the company and its policies, then moving into more service line specific training. By the beginning of the second week, I had met the team I would be working with for the duration of the insight and they had began setting me tasks. Every morning started with a team meeting, where tasks were assigned and explained for the day.
Skills
I have learnt lots of new skills, and particularly expanded my knowledge in excel. I have been able to develop my teamwork and communication skills by working with a team of people. I have developed my ability to communicate when I need support.
Business Insight
Although specific to the service line, EY provided lots of information about what the business is like and how it is run. They made it clear the pathways the company offers, and how there is an opportunity to grow and move through the company. They additionally made it clear how they understand that many people move on to different roles and how they can support your development to be able to do this.
Culture
Everyone I have met were really nice and friendly. There seems to be a friendly environment, where people are more than happy to help and support you develop. The office was lovely to go into and much less intimidating than I expected it to be.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight. It was a valuable opportunity that has allowed me to develop myself in ways I never knew I could.
Yes
I would advise other applying to EY to give it a go. They should not feel intimidated and utilise the opportunity to try something and see if they enjoy it.
