Overview
During my internship I was assigned to a team where I had to complete various auditing tasks for our client (an insurance company). The work varied everyday but it involved a lot of excel spreadsheets and checking documents
Skills
I've definitely learnt more about excel (especially shortcuts and formulas). I have also developed my skills of checking things thoroughly. Communication skills and working in a team have also been very important skills that I've used during this time.
Responsibilities
Yes to an extent. I was given tasks to complete most of the time but sometimes I had days where there wasn't much to do. I had responsibilities but nothing that was too far beyond of my abilities
Support & Guidance
I was allocated a buddy and a counsellor - both of whom were very helpful with answering any questions I had. The team I worked with were also very supportive
Culture
The general atmosphere was very good. There seems to be a good work life balance even though there is a lot of work to do and the hours can be long
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my internship. I got to do a lot more than I expected I would and learnt a lot
Yes
Be confident, chatty and open to learning. No one knows what they're doing at first and EY doesn't expect you to, you just have to show that you have good potential to learn. Not being afraid to ask questions is very important
